Integrated Program Curriculum: A Day-by-Day Journey

This schedule details the daily learning objectives and hands-on activities for all G-Vayu AirLeap workshops. Each day consists of a 4-hour session, structured to build skills progressively from foundational knowledge to advanced engineering.

Day 1: Fundamentals & First Encounters

  • Vayu-Pilot (Day 1 of 2): Introduction to Flight
    • Theory: Critical safety briefing (propeller/battery safety), introduction to basic drone anatomy (frame, motors, props), and the physics of flight (Lift, Thrust, Pitch, Roll, Yaw).
    • Practical: Students master basic controls on a flight simulator before taking to the air. Every student performs their first supervised flight with the "Spark" trainer drone, focusing on stable hovering and safe landings.
  • Vayu-Aviator & Vayu-Innovator (Day 1 of 3 / Day 1 of 4): Engineering Foundations
    • Theory: Advanced safety briefing focusing on high-voltage LiPo batteries and brushless motor hazards. A technical deep dive into the differences between Brushed vs. Brushless systems, the function of ESCs, and STM32-based Flight Controllers.
    • Practical: Students unbox the "Endurance" drone kit and begin the assembly process, mounting the brushless motors and the 4-in-1 ESC stack onto the carbon fiber frame.

Day 2: Technology in Action - Building & Configuration

  • Vayu-Pilot (Day 2 of 2 - Graduation Day):
    • Theory: Learning how a drone "thinks" by understanding the role of the Flight Controller and its IMU sensor.
    • Practical: Students practice advanced maneuvers on the simulator before navigating the "Spark" drone through a simple obstacle course.
    • Conclusion: A final written examination on safety and basic drone knowledge, followed by the Certificate of Completion ceremony.
  • Vayu-Aviator & Vayu-Innovator (Day 2 of 3 / Day 2 of 4): System Integration
    • Practical: The build continues. Students complete the drone assembly by installing the Flight Controller, soldering the main power leads (XT60), and mounting the 2.4GHz radio receiver.
    • Software: Introduction to the Betaflight Configurator. Students connect their drone to a computer to calibrate sensors, set up radio channels, and configure essential flight modes (Angle and Acro).

Day 3: Maiden Flights & Advanced Systems

  • The Vayu-Pilot program concludes after Day 2.
  • Vayu-Aviator (Day 3 of 3 - Graduation Day):
    • Practical: Students perform final "props-off" safety checks in Betaflight, bind their radio transmitter to the drone, and install propellers.
    • The Maiden Flight: Under strict supervision, every student conducts the thrilling first flight of the drone they personally built.
    • Conclusion: A technical examination covering the build process and Betaflight setup, followed by the Certificate of Completion ceremony.
  • Vayu-Innovator (Day 3 of 4): Deeper Systems Engineering
    • Software Lab: Students learn to flash and update firmware on both the Flight Controller (Betaflight) and ESCs (BLHeli_32). They configure advanced features like the On-Screen Display (OSD), GPS modules, and failsafe protocols.
    • Theory: An in-depth lecture on the science of flight control algorithms, introducing the crucial concepts of PID (Proportional, Integral, Derivative) loops and how they affect a drone's flight performance.

Day 4: Performance Engineering & Mastery

  • Only the Vayu-Innovator program continues to Day 4.
  • Vayu-Innovator (Day 4 of 4 - Graduation Day):
    • Practical: The Tuning Lab. Students apply the PID theory from Day 3 by making incremental adjustments to their drone's settings and conducting short test flights to observe the impact on performance, learning the iterative process of engineering.
    • Flight Mastery: Students navigate their newly tuned drones through a complex obstacle course designed to test flight agility and stability.
    • Conclusion: A discussion on career pathways in aerospace and robotics, followed by the most comprehensive final examination on all technical topics, and the Certificate of Completion ceremony.
